Pergola Builder in Louisville & Surrounding KY
Pergola Builder from E & J General Contracting — a family-owned crew working across Louisville, Bullitt County, and central Kentucky.
About Our Pergolas Work
Cedar, PT, and aluminum pergolas — freestanding or attached. Real footings, real beams, built to handle Kentucky wind and snow.
A pergola makes a patio feel like a room. We build cedar and pressure-treated pergolas, plus install aluminum kit pergolas (StruXure, Sojag, Yardistry) on real concrete footings — not just bolted to a slab. Whether it's freestanding over a patio, attached to the house, or shading a hot tub, we frame it to last decades.
Who This Is For
- Homeowners adding shade and structure to a patio or deck
- Property owners building outdoor entertaining space
- Folks installing aluminum louvered pergolas (StruXure, Pergola Kits Direct)

Pergolas FAQs
Cedar or pressure-treated for a pergola?
Cedar looks better, smells better, and weathers to a beautiful silver-gray. PT is cheaper and lasts plenty long if you stain it. Cedar's the upgrade most folks are happy they made.
Do I need a permit for a pergola in Kentucky?
Most freestanding pergolas under 200 sq ft don't need a permit in Jefferson, Bullitt, and Nelson counties — but attached pergolas usually do. We confirm before quoting.
Can you install an aluminum louvered pergola I bought?
Yes. We install StruXure, Sojag, Yardistry, Pergola Kits Direct, and most major brands. We'll pour the footings, set the posts, and torque every connection per spec.
Will it handle Kentucky weather?
If we build it. We size posts for wind load, pour real footings, and use stainless or hot-dip hardware. The pergolas we replace usually failed because someone bolted 4x4 posts to a thin slab.
